Sworn and certified translations by a native English speaker with 10+ years’ experience working in law firms
Cross-border matters depend on documents that are accurate, consistent, and accepted by the receiving authority. I translate legal and official documents to and from Italian and English for lawyers, notaries, businesses and individuals, with attention to legal terminology and to the format each court, consulate or registry expects.
Who I work with:
Law firms and notaries: confidential, consistent terminology across a file, fast turnaround for deadlines, one point of contact, repeat- client terms
Private clients: documents for property purchases, inheritance, marriage abroad, immigration, residency and study. Plain language guidance on which type of translation your document needs.
Services:
Contracts and corporate: purchase deeds, contracts and agreements, powers of attorney
Court: judicial documents, sentences, appeals, and procedural documents
Succession and property: wills, declarations of succession, land registry searches
Civil status: birth, marriage and death certificates, certificates of residence, certificates of no impediment

Each country has its own systems and standards for making a translation official.
In Italy, a translator must go to the court or a notary to have a translation sworn. Getting a translation sworn by the court is much less costly and involves creating a bundle of documents including the original, the translation and a sworn declaration (verbale di giuramento) that the translator signs before the court official who affixes stamps, signatures and duty stamps.
A certified translation includes a declaration drafted by the translator confirming it is complete and accurate and to the best of their ability and usually specifies their qualifications as a translator.
I can provide both sworn translations through the Court of Rome, or certified translations issued with my signature, IATI membership details. (IATI is a professional association in Italy recognized under Law 4 of 14 January 2013 (Gazzetta Ufficiale n.22. )).

I charge €0.12 per word for certified translations and they can be completed within 1-3 business days depending on the length of the document and delivery times depend on whether I need the original document or if a PDF is sufficient.
I charge €0.25 per word for sworn translations plus the cost for the duty stamps (marche da bollo). The completion depends on the delivery of the original document and the availability of appointments at the Court of Rome.

If you are located in Rome, we can arrange a meeting for the delivery of the document. Otherwise, we can send the document via registered mail in Italy or internationally.
